Perhaps a dreamy, inattentive child with wide bright eyes and an inquisitive nature, someone who shows the capability and the intelligence to do so much better than the failing grade they are receiving. He, or she for that matter, may behave strangely or abnormally; throwing tantrums, screaming and sobbing uncontrollably or act in ways that seems socially unacceptable.
If it has nothing to do with family background, such as overprotective parents, controlling parents or the occasional cases of child abuse, these might actually be symptoms of learning disabilities. There are many different types of learning difficulties, some more severe and some more trivial, there are those that go undetected for a lifetime and there are those that are sometimes misdiagnosed as insanity.
I do not profess to be an expert on learning difficulties, I am not a psychologist or some experienced adult with various degrees on the issue. I am unable to answer why these behaviors are induced or how these disabilities are caused; I am not even sure which one of these symptoms are belonging to which disability. For those desiring a deeper knowledge of the subject, simply typing the particular learning difficulty into any search engines should give you much information given by the professionals and I will not elaborate further on the scientific history.
Most articles and write-ups on LD, short for learning disabilities, talk about the reading, writing and physical abilities, with little mention of the social-emotional aspects which played a significant role through the growing-up years and into adulthood. In this website, I will share the inner dealings of a child living with LD as well as the triumphs and obstacles in coping with the difficulty. From my experience, I realized that although LD will not go away, it does not have to stop a person from achieving goals. Help is available if the disabilities are identified . I hope the information in this site can help and encourage those with LD in managing and coping with their lives by sharing insights into mine.
